# 4. Install and aim cameras

Mount securely, confirm the live image, and identify every camera in NVR and SafeTunnel.

## Before you start

Use the approved [camera positions](/installation-guide/placement.md) and [network layout](/installation-guide/network.md). Have the camera manufacturer’s installation instructions, suitable wall fixings, and the LiveReach site configuration ready. Isolate equipment under the site procedure before working in the tunnel.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Check the view before fixing the position

Connect the camera using its intended power method and network path. With equipment isolated, check a live view from the proposed position using a secure temporary arrangement appropriate for the installation work.

Confirm 10–14 ft mounting height, 1–2 ft dry clearance above the observed wet line, a wall mount, and perpendicular aim. Check that the full side profile fits. Resolve an unsuitable position before drilling or making the mount permanent.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Secure the mount and protect the connections

Fit the wall bracket and camera according to the hardware instructions. Make the mount rigid, especially near blowers or other sources of vibration. Use the specified fastener and adjustment-screw settings.

Protect junctions, unused connectors, and cable routes against the wash environment. Keep a safe maintenance-access plan for lens cleaning. Do not lower the camera below the required height to make it easier to reach.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect and identify the camera

Connect the camera to the network in the selected layout. Follow the LiveReach-provided process to add or confirm it on the NVR, then have the deployment team confirm it in SafeTunnel.

Use a consistent camera name, such as **Entrance — camera 01**, and record its physical label, network address, NVR name, and SafeTunnel name. Check the actual image to avoid swapping adjacent camera identities.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Aim, lock, and observe

Keep the horizontal aim perpendicular to the rail. Adjust framing so the roofline and tire contact line are visible and the relevant gap between vehicles fits in view. Lock the adjustment without shifting the image.

After the site lead releases the equipment for normal operation, observe video from outside the operating tunnel. Review a complete pass through each zone for equipment obstruction, glare, vibration, and spray. If an adjustment is needed, return to the site’s isolation procedure first.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Save the baseline

Save a dated image for each camera and record its zone, measured height and dry clearance, and any coverage concerns in the [worksheet](https://3748104918-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fcfh08s1E8Fn9MOdqduSf%2Fuploads%2FERwcsHzx0cLE0p89nrVV%2Finstallation-worksheet.pdf?alt=media). A baseline makes a later bump, bracket movement, or change in equipment easier to spot.

## Check before continuing

* [ ] Mounts and cabling are secured and protected for the environment.
* [ ] Every camera is correctly identified and delivers stable video to the NVR.
* [ ] The deployment team confirms every intended camera in SafeTunnel.
* [ ] Aim and coverage pass the placement requirements during normal operation.
* [ ] Baseline images and measurements are saved.

If a camera is only visible on the NVR, its SafeTunnel configuration is still pending.
